What are Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth are nothing but the molars that are found at the back of your gums. Most adults have 32 teeth which include the four wisdom teeth that grow during the teens, so they can be said as the last set of teeth a human being gets in his lifetime.

These teeth normally cause issues because there is no enough space in the mouth for them to come out properly like any other normal teeth. Due to this lack of space, the wisdom teeth only partially erupt through the gums or come through an angle. This condition is known as impacted wisdom teeth and has to be removed.

An impacted wisdom tooth can cause damage to other teeth, pain or many other dental problems which includes shifting of other teeth, overcrowding and tooth decay that may spread to adjacent healthy teeth.

What are the Signs and Symptoms to know that my Wisdom Teeth are Developing?

When your wisdom teeth start to grow, they are usually accompanied by some sort of discomfort. There are a number of signs and symptoms they show while erupting that also makes it necessary to have wisdom teeth removal Sydney as soon as possible. Here are some of the signs you might feel with an erupting wisdom teeth.

Persistent Pain and Infection:

One of the most obvious signs that you would feel while the wisdom teeth are erupting is pain and irritation both at the site of the teeth and when you open your mouth. The wisdom teeth are the last set of teeth to erupt in your mouth, and therefore these are the most common teeth to become impacted.

As there is no enough space in the jaw, instead of coming out straight, they may come in sideways, misaligned or tilted pressing against the adjacent teeth.

An impacted tooth can also remain silent without causing any symptom for a long time which your dentist will identify with regular dental checkups. In most cases, the dentist suggests removal of wisdom teeth Sydney when these teeth grow impacted or partially erupts.

Stiffness in the Jaw or Swollen Gums:

If your wisdom teeth come out, there are chances they may push the adjacent teeth and make them move. This results in stiffness in the jaw and swollen gums. As adjacent teeth moves, you may require orthodontic treatment to correct them.

However getting affordable wisdom teeth removal cost Sydney at an earlier age is your best bet!

Thank you for explaining how your wisdom teeth may be misaligned if there is not a sufficient amount of space in your jaw. My wife has been mentioning that her mouth tends to hurt whenever she tries eating lunch at work during the day, and I think that her wisdom teeth may be growing since her mouth has become too sensitive for her to brush her teeth. She should find a dentist that can help take care of her problem.
