A simple wisdom teeth removal can be performed in your dentist’s office but if your wisdom teeth is deeply impacted and requires advanced tool to perform the removal process, then he may refer to an oral surgeon. Here we have provided a whittled list of pre and post-operative instructions to minimise the unnecessary pain and the complications of wisdom teeth infection.

Pre-operative Care
  • Schedule an appointment with your dentist and inquire about the wisdom teeth removal cost in Sydney.
  • Patients should be accompanied by a parent or friend to drive them to the appointment and drive back home.
  • Wear loose fitting short sleeve shirt and comfortable clothing.
  • Brush your teeth and rinse your mouth before the surgery.
  • Keep the surgical area neat and clean before the surgery.
  • If you are taking any regular medications, talk to your practitioner and take the medications as prescribed prior to the appointment.
  • Do not eat or drink anything six hours before the surgery.
  • Take your regular medications along with a small sip of water.
  • Remove contact lenses, jewellery and dentures proper to the surgery.

Post-operative Care
  • Apply ice packs on the sides of the face where the surgery was performed to reduce swelling.
  • Place gauze pad on the surgical area as a protective dressing for at least one hour after the surgery. Apply a gentle pressure over it and discard it after an hour.
  • Don’t rinse or touch the surgical area since these actions may cause bleeding by dislodging the blood clot that has formed.
  • Be in complete rest a day after the surgery and resume normal activities only after when you feel comfortable.
  • As soon as you begin to feel the discomfort, take the prescribed pain medications.
  • Don’t stand up suddenly, as this action may cause dizziness. So, sit for at least a minute before standing.
  • If there is excessive bleeding in the surgical, rinse your mouth using salt water and then place a gauze pad over the surgical site and bite it firmly for 30 minutes.
  • You can also bite moist tea bags to reduce excess bleeding.
  • Do not consume extremely hot foods like coffee, soup or sharp foods like pretzels, peanuts, chips, etc. because these foods may dislodge the clot.
  • Post-operative nausea is common and it can be relieved by taking small quantities of a carbonated beverage such as Ginger Ale or Sprite every hour.
  • Rinsing, spitting and brushing should be avoided the day after the surgery and gentle rinsing with mild, warm salt water is encouraged at least 5-6 times a day especially after eating.
  • Two or three days compulsory rest is recommended and you can resume your normal daily activities once you feel comfortable again.

No matter how complicated your wisdom teeth removal surgery is, if you adhere to the above instructions strictly, then you can eliminate the unnecessary pain and other complication after the surgery. To find cheap wisdom teeth removal in Sydney, visit http://www.wisdomteethremovalsydney.com.au/
